The challenges and responses facing the lighting industry
Judging from the production and sales situation of lighting products in the first half of this year, traditional light source products have shown a general decline, and LED lighting products are showing rapid growth. It is expected that this situation will continue in the future. Since the first half of this year, the export value of lighting has reached 20.7 billion US dollars, of which the export value of LED lighting products is 6 billion US dollars. The growth rate of LED lighting products exports still maintains a high level, while the number of export enterprises has decreased compared with last year, but still 5,900 companies, in addition to production companies in the corporate structure, foreign trade companies also account for a considerable proportion, which is far from the traditional lighting products.
Due to the large number of export enterprises and the inclusion of several foreign trade companies, this indicates that the industry concentration is too scattered. The top ten exports account for 14.96% of the total export value of LED products. The top 30 exports account for the total export value of LED products. 27.04%. China's lighting products, including LED lighting products, are exported to more than 200 countries and regions around the world, covering almost all parts of the world. The top ten countries and regions account for 51.05% of all LED exports.
In the future, the development trend of the lighting industry will be people-oriented, and companies need to see the future direction of development and plan ahead. For how to deal with the challenges, enterprises can start from the aspects of fund raising, R&D investment, improving quality, opening up market segments, expanding scale, and reducing costs. However, I mainly want to talk about the problem of organizational structure and overcapacity. At present, the number of LED lighting companies in China is too large, and it is unique in the world. In the future, there will be big waves and the survival of the fittest.
How to actively and actively adjust the organizational structure of enterprises to solve the problem of overcapacity, we must first analyze the composition of LED lighting enterprises. These enterprises are mainly divided into four categories: the first category is the transformation and upgrading of traditional lighting enterprises to produce LED lighting products; the second category is LED-related enterprises, such as epitaxial chips, packaging, display and other enterprises produce LED lighting products; the third category is the original production of electronic consumer goods companies to switch to produce LED lighting products; the fourth category of enterprises have nothing to do with the above industries, with the support of local governments Enterprises established around 2010.
At present, the transformation and upgrading of the first type of large-scale lighting enterprises is successful. The advantage is that they understand lighting, have foundations, and have channels. Most of these enterprises will stay in the market, and a small number of enterprises with small scale and slow transformation will be eliminated. In the second category, except for a few enterprises, most of them rely on the main industry to support lighting, and they have not formed a scale. It is recommended to do a good job in the main business and exit the lighting market competition because the advantages are not obvious. The third category, a small number of enterprises that give up the original products, will make great efforts to focus on lighting, there will be hope, otherwise they can only do some OEM work for brand enterprises. If there is a better chance, exiting the lighting market is also a good choice. The fourth category is the most competitive enterprises. These enterprises are driven by policies and are difficult to adapt to market changes. They will gradually be forced to withdraw from the lighting market.
In fact, a few years ago I called for an initiative to withdraw, and the torrent of retreat is a wise man. Today, we will continue to speak out loudly. We hope that corporate decision-makers will see the future development trend and recognize their position in the industry. Perhaps it is more conducive to the development of enterprises than taking the initiative to withdraw. Throughout the world's top ten lighting companies, only CREE is an LED-related company, and the rest are 100-year-old stores or lighting companies with decades of development history. China will not and will not survive more than 20,000 companies in the future. Mergers and acquisitions are the norm in the industry.
The lighting industry is a bright cause for humanity, and we need to make unremitting efforts for the healthy development of the lighting industry.
